Why does the Catholic Church teach that there is no divorce under any circumstance even when the Scriptures allow divorce in case of Adultery(Matthew 5:31-32 and Matthew 19:3-9)

This is has been a controversial topic especially between Catholics and Protestants for many many years.  The verses which are normally discussed and debated by both camps are Matthew 5:31-32 and Matthew 19:3-9. Matthew 5 31 “It has been said, ‘Anyone who divorces his wife must give her a certificate of divorce.’[a] 32 But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery. AKJV Matthew 19 8 Jesus replied, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. 9 I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.” Other versions in place of sexual immorality translate it as adultery or fornication.  In most discussions or writings on this issue the focus is on one spouse committing adultery or sexual immorality with someone else...

Mediator or Intercessor

1 Timothy 2:5 is often quoted as a scripture that proves that Mary and “dead saints” cannot intercede for the living. Let us dive into Scripture and let us see if it is the case. 1 Timothy 2:5 “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” The word Mediator is used in that verse. In the Greek the word used is μεσίτης (mesitēs). Just before this verse at the beginning of the chapter, Paul actually uses the word intercession. 1 Timothy 2:1 “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;” In Greek the word used was ἐντεύξεις, (enteuxeis) So we can safely conclude that the words used for intercessions and mediation are different. If the words were interchangeable, Paul would not have excluded everyone apart from Jesus from being a mediator and yet at the same ask from everyone for intercessions. Lets do a quick exercise to help us remember that Mediator and Interc...

Is Chiwenga of Jesus Revelations Ministry reviving the adoptionism Heresy?

In his sermons titled Jesus is Christ and Christian Church part 2 Chiwenga rejected the teaching that Jesus was God who became man at his conception. He rejected the Dogma that Mary is the mother of God, rejected that Jesus was born Christ, Lord and God. What this means is that to Chiwenga, Jesus is a man who became God, Lord and Christ. We know from basic understanding the nature of God, God can become man, because with God everything is possible. However, for man to become God it is another issue. And this opens the door to every man having a possibility of becoming God. This is the same doctrine that was condemned as a heresy known as adoptionism. Another question that arises is, did Jesus suffer as just a human on the cross or as God incarnate on the cross. If it were a human who suffered on the cross, we are yet to be redeemed as the sacrifice necessary to redeem us from the infinity sin Adam committed to an infinity God required a sacrifice that was also infinity that no human ...

Peter is the Rock upon which Jesus built his Church

Peter is the Rock upon which Jesus built his Church.   Most Protestants disagree and claim that Matthew 16:18 does not teach that Peter is the rock that Jesus built his Church, but the Rock is Jesus Himself or the confession of Peter is the Rock. I am going to show that Jesus explained why He changed Simon’s name to Peter in Matthew 16:18 proving Peter is the rock upon which the Church was founded.   When you ask the question why Jesus changed Simon ‘s name to Peter, I think by just knowing the meaning of the name Peter you can conclude that it has something to do with a rock and Jesus did give us the reason why He changed Simon’s name. If you ask the proponents of the alternate interpretations of Matthew 16:18, where did Jesus give a reason for the change of name from Simon to Peter, you simply do not get a response.   From the first moment Jesus met Simon, he told him he shall be called Cephas or in Greek Peter (John 1:42). However, Jesus did not explain why...

Did Catholics Remove the Second Commandment

Did Catholics Remove the Second Commandment Its common to hear Protestants claiming that Catholics removed the second commandment because they are interested in worshipping Graven images. This mistaken notion is comes from the fact that most Protestants do not realize that  the Scriptures do not number the commandments and secondly that the numbering of the ten commandments can be done using different methods leading to different numberings. In this article I will deal with the topic mainly showing that the Protestant numbering repeats the same commandment twice. A short summary of the 10 Commandments numbering   Catholic and Lutheran Numbering Other Protestants Numbering 1 Do not commit Idolatry Do not commit idolatry 2 Do not use God ‘s name in vain Do not commit Idolatry 3 Keep the sabbath Do not use God ‘s name in vain 4 ...
